Story

"I'm doing the Gold Post Box Trail for Hope House Children's Hospices because I want to help poorly children and their families." Gracie never knew Ry but she goes to karate with his dad, Rob, and his brother, Rhys, where they are all blue belts (8th kyu). This is where she got her idea to help Ry and Rhys' Mum, Alison. Gracie (aged 6) has persuaded her family to drive around in their free time to have her photo taken next to all the Gold post boxes

3rd February: There's less than two weeks to go until Gracie gets back on her trail and heads to Surrey for David Weir's 4 Gold Post Boxes. In the meantime we are fundraising for Hope House Children's Hospice and Get Kids Going with the sale of London 2012 Mascots and Gracie's Easter Raffle with some fantastic prizes up for grabs xx 8th February: We have a busy week ahead - Gracie breaks up for half term on Friday and heads to London on Sunday for a week with her dad and family....but is visiting Davis Weir's 4 Gold Post Boxes in Surrey on her way. She is very excited to be getting back on her trail. We are also meeting some local businesses during the week to collect prize donations for Gracie's Easter Raffle. Egg-citing times! X 16th February: Gracie is back on the Gold Post Box Trail!!!!! We had to change our plans at the last minute, and so Gracie visited Greg Rutherford's post box in Milton Keynes this morning en-route to Bicester. That's her 76th Gold Post Box and leaves her just 42 to visit. Well done Gracie x 22nd February: Tomorrow Gracie comes home after her half term stay in London with her dad. We are picking her up in Surrey, visiting David Weir's 4 Gold Post Boxes and then returning home to Shropshire via Cheam for Joanna Roswell's Gold Post Box #KeepGoingGracie xx 23rd February: Massive THANK YOU to David Weir who took time out today to come and meet Gracie at his Gold Post Box in Mollison Square, have a chat with us and sign a few autographs. Thank you to Mason for coming along with his dad - Gracie was really impressed with your scooter riding skills and she hopes that you all enjoyed the chocolate post boxes and pictures she had drawn. Gracie's dad and brother, Oliver, also joined us today in Wallington before they headed back to London and we went on to Cheam. That's 81 Gold Post Boxes done, 37 left! #HappyGracie xx 24th February: Congratulations Gracie! We have just been informed that Gracie and her Gold Post Box Challenge has won another award...this time it's the Telford Tommy Award for her fundraising. Thank you to Gracie's school for nominating her and supporting her #superstar 24th February: Gracie is having loads of fun on her trail of 118 sparkly gold post boxes in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and Sark (Nr Guernsey). She has travelled approx 6000 miles visiting 81 so far, met some of her Olympic and Paralympic heroes and raised over £1000 for HOPE HOUSE CHILDREN'S Hospice and GET KIDS GOING. Thank you to everyone who is supporting Gracie and to everyone who has donated to her fundraising. You can donate directly to Gracie (all money received is split equally between both charities) or by her Just Giving pages (There are two seperate Just Giving Pages, one for Hope House and one for Get Kids Going). Thank you xx 27th February: Massive congratulations to Gracie and her school friends who raised a fantastic £226.50 for her charities with their sponsored walk searching for gold post boxes hidden around the village. The same amount was also raised for school funds! Even more amazing as there are only 48 children in the whole school. Thank you to everyone who took part and thank you again to the school for their continued support of Gracie's adventure xx 2nd March: Gracie's trail to Fulmer, Cowley, Uxbridge, Sunningdale and Egham is due to take place on 6th April and Auntie Jane is coming too! Yay! And her trail of 13 Gold Post Boxes in Scotland is booked for the Easter holidays (22nd April) #nearingtheend x 12th March: Thank you to everyone at Gracie's school who took part in the sponsored walk. We received a cheque for £265.00 today for Gracie's charities - that's a fabulous £132.50 for Get Kids Going and £132.50 for Hope House Children's Hospice. And not forgetting they raised a further £265.00 for themselves to get some fantastic playground toys. Not bad for a village school with just 47 pupils! Thank you xxx 20th March: CONGRATULATIONS GRACIE! Another award!!! This time it's the Town Council's Young Citizen's Award for her fabulous acheivements on her Gold Post Box Trail. Well done to all the other winners and runners-up, especially Lee Storey, another youngster who gives his time to the town as The Young Town Crier. He proudly told Gracie his Auntie lives next to the Gold Post Box in Portland! (I think we may have parked outside her house!!!). Thank you to everyone for your continued support xx 20th March: Gracie's Telford Tommy Award will give her permanent recognition of her great fundraising acheivement with her very own star in the new Telford Hall of Fame in the new Telford Town Park! Wowzers! X 26th March: Today was outfit shopping day. Gracie is now all ready for Friday's Signal 107FM Little Star Award ceremony in Wolverhampton. She has a beautiful new sparkly dress, shoes and accessories, so do I (her mum) and her stepdad has a new bow tie....all in co-ordinating gold! X 29th March: Thank you to everyone who sent messages to Gracie last night on her huge achievement on winning The Signal 107FM Little Star Inspiration Award. She had an amazing night mixing with Signal 107FM celebs and event sponsors, enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal, watched Blue perform some of their hits and even enjoyed a dance with Simon Webbe before she hit the dance floor with the other guests. It was a fantastic night and Gracie is honoured to have won this award, along with her other 3 awards for her fundraising. As she said last night... it's amazing, I just wanted to see a gold post box #superstar 30th March: Next weekend see's Gracie back on her trail and venturing South to visit Sophie Christiansen's 3 Gold Post Boxes in Fulmer, Egham and Sunningdale and Natasha Baker's 2 Gold Post Boxes in Uxbridge and Cowley. Then it's just 2 weeks until Scotland and it's 13 glittery post boxes x 6th April: Lovely day spent with Auntie Jane who joined Gracie on her trail and took her to 5 more sparkly gold post boxes! The weather held and we all managed a lovely picnic next to Sophie Christiansen's post box at her old college. Photos will be on tomorrow. Gracie has now hit 86 of her 118....Scotland in 2 weeks for 13 more! X 13th April: Gracie is in London with her dad and family this week, returning on Easter Sunday for her Easter Raffle draw at The Shakespeare (Monday 21st) before setting off for Scotland and 13 glittery gold post boxes in Peebles, Dunblane, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Lossiemouth, Aviemore and Gantown on Spey. Gracie raised a massive £235.00 today with her Easter Raffle - thank you to everyone who supported her by donating prizes and buying tickets. Also a huge thank you to Amy at The Shakespeare for hosting the event and to Auntie Kala for selling lots of tickets and helping make the raffle a success. Well done to all the winners - a list will be on shortly xx 22nd April: Well done Gracie, 3 more Gold Post Boxes visited today - Scott Brash's official box in Peebles (High Street) and 2 unofficial tributes at Posso and Kirkton Manor (which were much easier to find than expected) ...so that's 87, 88 & 89 done. On to Edinburgh tomorrow for Chris Hoy's 2 boxes and then to Dunblane for Andy Murray's before heading to Aberdeen xx 23rd April: Gracie has now visited her 92nd gold post box - Andy Murray's in Dunblane. The weather held for a lovely stroll and a chat with other visitors to the town. Such a beautiful place that has endured such sadness x 23rd April: Well done, Gracie! Great day trailing today and 5 Gold Post Boxes visited. Boxes 93 and 94 (Tim Baille) on Westhill Drive, Aberdeen visited ahead of schedule. Tomorrow it's Katherine Grainger's and Neil Fachie's boxes in Aberdeen city centre and then on to Lossiemouth for Heather Stanning's official post box x 24th April: Leaving Aberdeen behind and heading to Lossiemouth. Gold Post Boxes 95 - Katherine Grainger, and 96 - Neil Faiche visited in Aberdeen city centre this morning and now enjoying the scenery as we head North x 24th April: Another excellent day trailing with Gold Post Box 97 (Gracie's 10th in Scotland) visited- Heather Stanning's official post box in Lossiemouth. Nice walk on the beach and ice cream before going to Elgin for an early book-in at our hotel.....Gracie is now immersed in the play barn so time for a drink for the grown-ups x 4th May: Woo hoo! That's 100 Gold Post Boxes visited. Well done Gracie, just 18 left on your trail x 5th May: Well Gracie is home after a weekend away trailing on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Great time had yesterday on Lowestoft beach and promenade - sunny but very windy! Despite this Gracie managed another ice cream and game of crazy golf whilst searching for the post box "vandalised" and painted bronze by locals in honour of Olympic Boxer, Anthony Ogogo. Weirdly, no one sems to know it's there, and those that do think it's a disgrace! Oh well, Gracie loves it and has added it to her challenge xxx 17th May: Gracie is back on her trail tomorrow heading north to Leeds, Sheffield, Halifax and Huddersfield and added 7 more gold post boxes to her tally. That will total 108 leaving just 11 left to visit to reach her target of 119 (including Anthony Ogogo's bronze post box) xx 20th May: Gracie has only 11 Gold Post Boxes left to visit before her trail comes to an end, though she is keen for her fundraising to continue and she is coming up with some great, some not so great and some absolutely ridiculous ideas! Meanwhile, we shall continue with our travel plans to London, Hull, Jarrow, Stockton, Nottinghamshire, Northern Ireland and Isle of Man. Thanks for your support xxxxx 2nd June: Gracie's visit to the Isle of Man is confirmed for 11th August and her trip to Northern Ireland is confirmed for 13th August, with an overnight stay in Liverpool on 12th August for good measure. Ferries and hotels are all booked as she spends 5 days trailing around 4 Gold Post Boxes - massive MASSIVE thanks to both Steam Packet Company (Isle of Man) and Stena Line (Northern Ireland) for generously supporting Gracie's trail. Thank you xx 30th July: Just 12 days to go until Gracie heads off to the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland on her Gold Post Box Trail. She is nearing the end of her amazing adventure, which has been delayed due to other weekend commitments, and has just 11 glittery post boxes.......#SoNearYetSoFar xx 10th August: Gracie came home from London today and in a few hours gets back on her trail of shiny gold post boxes, heading to the Isle of Man until Tuesday and then Northern Ireland on Wednesday -Friday adding 4 more gold post boxes to her tally #GoGracie #HopeHouseChildrensHospice #GetKidsGoing 12th August: Well done Gracie! Peter Kennaugh's Gold Post Box in Onchan, Isle of Man visited today ....and his Gold Telephone Box! Belfast tomorrow x 13th August: Gracie is now in Belfast ready for a day trailing tomorrow searching for Michael McKillop, Bethany Frith and Jason Smyth's Gold Post Boxes #GoGracie x 14th August: Well done Gracie! The trail led us easily to Londonderry/Derry, then on to Glengormley where no one knew there was a gold post box (even the ladies working in the Post Office!!). We eventually found it (after driving past it several times) and then it was a race against the clock and a battle through Belfast's rush hour to get to Seaforde and back before the time ran out on our hire car! (Then I missed the turn into Titanic Quarter due to a cyclist pulling out and stopping in the middle of the road so did a lap of Belfast City Centre before getting the hire car back 30mins late!). Belfast, it's been emotional!!! 3 more gold post boxes added to the tally! Yay! 16th August: Gracie is now home (and still zzzz) after her trail took her to Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. She added 4 gold post boxes and a gold telephone box to her total making 113 visited and just 8 left, as her total has increased to 121 as Anthony Ogogo's bronze post box and Peter Kennaugh's gold telephone box have been added in to her list. Also added in is the new gold post box in Hebden which replaced the original one she had visited. And that's it....just 8 more to go #welldonegracie xx 29th August: Gracie went trailing with her Grandad Paul today and visited her final 2 "London" post boxes - Mo Farah's gold post box in Isleworth and Pete Reed's gold post box in Chiswick! Well done, Gracie! Just 6 left to visit and then your challenge is complete!!! #HopeHouseChildren'sHospice #GetKidsGoing 20th September: Gracie received a very special invitation through the post this morning. News of her challenge has travelled very far and as a thank you for all her hard work SANTA wants to meet her when he visits the ice caves at The British Ironworks in Oswestry in December! Gracie is really excited to meet up with the great man himself and also see her supporters again who presented her with her own gold post box exactly a year ago today! X 28th September: Excellent day trailing......thank you to Auntie Jane for chauffering us to Jarrow, Stockton and Hebden, thank you Gill for coming to meet us at the gold post box in Jarrow - it was lovely to see you - and thank you Nikki for trying to come and meet us, sorry you couldn't make it. Just 3 more left (2 post boxes and a telephone box) until Gracie finishes her challenge xxx

Gracie is hoping to have completed her amazing challenge by the summer and has just 43 Gold Post Boxes left to visit. Her trail will take us to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Greater London and the North of England. She has had a great time on her travels so far - visiting some lovely places, meeting one or two (!!) of our fantastic Paralympians, getting the chance to run around the Olympic Track and win an award. What a fabulous 2013.....and 2014 looks set to be even more amazing! In all the fun, though, Gracie is raising money for HOPE HOUSE CHILDREN'S HOSPICE (based in Oswestry, Shropshire, Hope House provides care and support for children with life-limiting illnesses, and their families. They continue to support some good friends of ours) and GET KIDS GOING (who provide wheelchairs and equipment to help get disabled children into sport). Please keep supporting Gracie through 2014 xx
